Saturday wanderings

Even in a week the weather has seemingly turned and summer all but a distance memory. I know I can hear you say, but we can have a blazing hot September and even October, Rhian, a real "Indian Summer," as it used to be called. I certainly hope it does improve for my annual leave and it is so often lovely when the children are properly back in school!

Today we certainly have adventures to be on so strap yourselves in...... and we are off to India! This is a country I would love to visit with so much variety and a warm and welcoming people. I know that we are told it can be a culture shock but as my neighbours used to say when in Monmouth, it is a fabulous place. They holidayed for three months at a time each year, over our cold and dreary winters.

We are flying into the Punjab region with so much to savour here. Feel free to dip in and out of it if it is too much in one go!

Now we are off to Goa, which is a very popular region and home to many Brits over our Winter months. You are guaranteed warm weather, a cheap living and splendid beaches.

Now personally not being a huge beach fan, I don't know if Goa does it for me, but we are all different and it takes all sorts to satisfy the needs of all./

Now India is a vast land of so much beauty and culture and so we dip into one of its most colourful festivals, Holi, which we are seeing over here quite frequently now too. It is a festival of joy, laughter and amazing colour.

Now as we draw towards of our Indian adventures we cannot leave without a brief pause at the Taj Mahal in Agra. It is an iconic building and setting and very frequently visited so we will see more crowds. It is quite beautiful and vast. Maybe it will make you stop and think about lost love or maybe it just isn't for you. Remember Diana, Princess of Wales' visit here and that iconic photograph, minus the crowds, of course.

Have any of you been to India on your travels and how did you find it? Does it have a hold on you and keep drawing you back towards it? Did you find it too noisy, smelly, busy and overwhelming struggling with poverty? Do share your thoughts.

Safe travels today and hope you have gained from our India adventures!
