Lower Wye Wanderings

We are back to our days out and exploring talent in the parish and we certainly have lots of it here. We are blessed with so much to celebrate.

Today we are travelling just to Monmouth, near where I used to live. I am sure you will enjoy the trip and maybe whet your appetite for a return visit.

Monmouth is also home of the famous Rockfield Recording studios where such tracks as Bohemian Rhapsody were recorded. Sometimes some of the great names from the modern music world have been seen - and shared drinks with!

Now having seen the town, the countryside around will soon be looking resplendent in its Autumn gowns. Travelling from Monmouth I will take you now to small village called Penallt which is where one of churches I was curate at was, being close to the village I lived in. The church has just had a new vicar (clergy couple) who have come from New Zealand but just listen to the beginning of the video, the first 5 mins or so I believe, the rest is a Sunday service. The church there, Old Church is a very special place.

Now we wend our way down the rejuvenated meanders of the River Wye and to Chepstow and in particular the castle here. Chepstow is a busy town straddling the English/ Welsh border. The castle dominates and seamlessly melts into the cliff face. It well worth a visit when lockdown restrictions are lifted.

Hope you have a good Saturday whatever you are doing. Marc, Edwin, Jude, Craig and I are all enjoying a Zoom Diocesan Conference!

I received some lovely photos from Di, whilst I was on holiday, so am putting some of them up today. Diane had a day trip holiday to Dyffryn Gardens and we have several lovely photos here to share, today just a start! Do keep photos, poems, reflections videos etc coming in so we can share the great talents we have in this parish. Thanks.

These Autumn crocus are gorgeous!

Such simple beauty.

I love the strong, clear lines in this. You can almost feel the texture too. Does anyone know what it is? It to me resembles a tortoise shell in pattern.

A taste of things to come, perhaps!

Thank you so much Diane. It is great to have a little taste of your day out to Dyffryn!
