Looking towards Palm Sunday and beyond

A BEAUTIFUL IDEA FOR PALM SUNDAY - get involved!

How can we publicly acknowledge this important day on our calendar when so many of us will be behind closed doors?

The Missionaries of the Holy Spirit posted this idea on their Facebook page: What if everyone on Sunday April 5 in the morning, puts a branch on the door of their house or on the window, to celebrate Palm Sunday? It could be any green branch you can get. This would help, despite the social distancing, to be connected as we enter into the Holiest of Weeks.

Want to join?

We may be physically isolated, but not separated. We are united as the body of Christ. We are the Church.

This seems like a lovely, simple idea and a way too of uniting Christians where we are at present.

It doesn't have to be a huge branch but some snipets from the garden or hedgerow and we could place it in a vase on a window sill, or tie it to our door knocker or place it in a pot adjacent to the front door. It would be even better if we also had one of those posters "This is Holy Week."

Also, consider what perhaps we might be able to make for NEXT Sunday - 12th April, Easter Sunday, a door wreath of spring flowers, a vase of yellow or white flowers for the window sill, or whatever creative skills you can muster from your daily exercise to proclaim to those round about you that it is Easter next Sunday and "Today He is risen." A statement of faith, where we live and amongst our own community in these difficult days.

Thank you Rhian, lovely thoughts! We have the star lit up, one we use at Christmas as the star of hope.
