Duffryn revisited with Sheila and Philip

I am apologising again! So sorry, that for some reason or technical gremlin Compline didn't appear Wednesday night. I have sent it out now, yesterday morning, so you can follow tonight should you wish.

Today being Friday, means that we are led by our dear friends, Philip and Sheila Morris who are taking us to Dyffryn Gardens after lockdown. I know many of you will be excited to be here again and some of you have made your own pilgrimages to the gardens to see for yourself how things are.

Dyffryn Gardens and ourselves are like a courting couple, we are keen to be in each others company regularly and lockdown has certainly deprived us. We want, and maybe stronger than that, need to see what has happened in our absence and what change we will spot. I know for example that some have told me it is not neat and manicured as normal with grounds people having been furloughed etc. It is however "home" it is so familiar and so loved.

Many thanks to Philip and Sheila who gave up a day to go and film this video for us especially for those who are still shielded or vulnerable and taking care where they go to.

That was certainly an interesting tour and refreshing to see the familiar but also to appreciate the new too. Sheila and Philip did you feel safe on your walk there?

Thank you again so very much.

The Gardener - Elizabeth Lindsay.

You sows your seeds in spring,

Pops them in,

Covers them over with old mother earth,

Waters them well,

And waits awhile.

Then soon they'll come

Popping up from the ground,

Lettuce and lupin,

Carrot and marigold.

So you've got to know

What's what!

So vegetables goes in the vegetable patch

And flowers in the flower bed, see.

Flowers are for looking at

Vegetables to eat.

By summertime the flowers is blooming,

And the veg is ready for eating,

By autumn time the fruits is ready for picking,

An' seeds need collecting for planting next spring,

Yes, in the autumn plants tuck up for winter,

When old mother earth has her long cold sleep,

So I sweeps into piles the dead leaves as they fall,

And notice the nip in the air.

But for sowing your seeds just remember

You sows them in the spring,

Drops them in,

Covers them over with old mother earth.

Waters them well,

And waits awhile.
