We are grateful to Philip and Sheila and for another travel in the Lake District. This is a wonderful part of the country and I for one need to explore it further.
"Last week our Lake District short walk took us through a former country estate to Tarn Hows from Coniston; this week we return to Tarn Hows, but this time following the Cumbria Way alongside becks and through woodland, passing typical Lake District farms. Tarn Hows is owned by the National Trust and is one of the most visited places in the Lake District, having a level accessible for all path around the tarn."
So on a decidedly warmer day than last week we join with Sheila and Philip to share in an adventure. Look at the clarity of Philip's camera and the tiny details of the scenery.
Here, we are off!
Thank you again Philip and Sheila - a real taste of what we may enjoy, if not this year but next. The air, the views, the company and good walking - thank you again for all your leading of our Friday travels with you both.
I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud - William Wordsworth.
I wandered lonely as a cloud That floats on high o'er vales and hills, When all at once I saw a crowd, A host, of golden daffodils; Beside the lake, beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze. Continuous as the stars that shine And twinkle on the milky way, They stretched in never-ending line Along the margin of a bay: Ten thousand saw I at a glance, Tossing their heads in sprightly dance. The waves beside them danced; but they Out-did the sparkling waves in glee: A poet could not but be gay, In such a jocund company: I gazed—and gazed—but little thought What wealth the show to me had brought: For oft, when on my couch I lie In vacant or in pensive mood, They flash upon that inward eye Which is the bliss of solitude; And then my heart with pleasure fills, And dances with the daffodils.
