Now, a lot of you over the last week or so have been telling me that you're falling behind on your newly-discovered-in-lockdown hobbies. Your crafting and 'me' time has taken a back seat as other things have picked up. Family is now visiting and slowly but surely there's more to get us out and about - or at least back to the chores!
So whether you've been sewing, painting, making cards or clothes or toys, whether you have been journaling, writing or scrapbooking, today we're going to try an exercise that will get your creativity flowing again and help you find the inspiration to get back to some of the things that have fallen to the wayside a little.
Exercise:
Go into your garden - or while you are out on your walk - pick up five different items (they might be leaves, bark, a stone, hay, a peg or plant label etc.)
With a piece of paper and a pen, take each item in turn and look at it, feel it, smell it.
Jot down on your paper five words that you would now associate to each item. Use your senses and how you feel about each item.
Now think about how each item - or the words - might relate to each other. Pair or group some of the words to form mood groups.
Now all you need to do is use these groups, images, or feelings to help inspire your next project!
Now, for a little more inspiration, here are some other works that we can enjoy - and use to feed out creativity.
Back by popular demand, here is another poem by Nikita Gill. This is an emotive topic, something to think on - as her work is so good at getting us to do:
And if music is more your cup of tea, today enjoy the Love Theme, also known as "A Time for Us". This piece is arranged by Henry Mancini and taken from Nino Rota's music written for Franco Zeffirelli's film of Romeo and Juliet.
And here is another soundtrack for you, this time a longer piece - Soundtrack Suite composed by Hans Zimmer for the film Pearl Harbor:
I hope this helps you hit reset, will refresh and reinvigorate you to get back to some of those hobbies!
