We are almost in November and it has felt dreary, almost wintry this past week with such heavy winds and rains. The beautiful Autumn leaves have had a hammering and some are now just a slippery mass on sodden pavements, drives and grass. However despite the lockdown we can still enjoy a virtual day out, and as we all know, these days at the end of the year can be delightful, surprisingly warm and tempt us to look ahead, whilst still enjoying the present.
So let's travel now to see some gardens. I know we have all really enjoyed these days out through the summer months and several people I know have asked Mum for some more, so here we go! There aren't a great deal of Autumn tours but I think we will enjoy these!
Our first trip is to The Dingle which is in Mid Wales and was filmed on 16th October, so fairly recently, but fortunately before the furious rains we've had.
Now we move on, "over the water", to Westonbirt. Now Mum tells me that many of you make your own annual pilgrimage here and have missed the opportunity to do so this year. So, although this video is a couple of years old, I hope you will enjoy it and the glorius colours.
Gorgeous! Now on our way home we will look at the Wye Valley in Autumn. We can see that the leave are changing slowly and there is still much green to be seen. It will have moved on since this was filmed, again on 16th October this year, but November will see the leaves mainly floating off the trees.
Now there is a long introduction to this video so you can skip this if you wish. Mum says, "I bet Sue B is reliving her travelling days, though in the Upper Wye area I believe!". Anyway, feel free to "dip in and out" of this as you wish - join in with the view through the car window, the drone footage and/or that on foot too. You can see the hillside just below the village where we lived and the way into England.
Have a great day!
Now as promised, I've got some more to share with you from around the parish.
Marcela has been out with her camera and here are a few more photos she has taken over recent weeks. Thank you for sharing them Marcela.
Thank you Father Edwin for your pumpkin carving lantern and this melon also makes a good lantern with the cross shining out. Will you be carving one today, be it pumpkin, melon , swede or butternut squash? Do send in any photos you might take of them!
Corinne has shared the lyrics of one of her recent songs, All the Seasons Change, and it seems appropriate to share this at the close of October and as we journey towards Winter. Thank you Corinne - keep writing!
That was lovely, thanks ☺
Lovely start to a wet Saturday Becky really enjoyed that X
