A day trip into greatness!

Well, it is a Summer Saturday yet again and we are all off on a tour! So many of you are enjoying these visits both near and far and some of you have said they are like a mini holiday in themselves.

This Saturday we are popping over to The States and visiting the Grand Canyon. We are warned that it very hot and we need to take precautions on our day tour!

Excessive Heat Warning - Inside Grand Canyon > 115° F (46° C) Canyon Rims 91 °F (32° C)

Avoid outdoor activities during the heat of the day (between 10 am and 4 pm) Anyone outside in the heat needs to balance food, electrolyte and water intake: drink when thirsty, eat salty snacks, and carry a spray bottle to wet yourself down. Stay Cool.

Now that was something wasn't it? If you should want to see more, and there is much much more to see, then tune into other virtual tours. However, they do all look very similar and some are over 20 mins long! The choice is yours!

I don't think anyone can be failed to be awe inspired by the Canyon, whether in size or age or the geology of it. The twisting River Colorado carves out slowly and with such power. It all speaks powerfully of a God who is even more vast and beyond and yet entered our humanity.

A Prayer in Praise of God's Greatness

Almighty, true and incomparable God, You are present in all things, yet in no way limited by them. You remain unaffected by place, untouched by time, unperturbed by years, and undeceived by words. You are not subject to birth and in no need of protection. You are beyond all corruption, above all change, immutable by nature. You live in unapproachable light and are invisible, yet You are known to all those who seek You with hope and love. You are the God of Israel, and of all who hope in Christ.

Amen.

From Catholic online prayers.

Jan has sent these pictures that her Grandson Callum has taken of the Milky Way - so vast, so huge and we are but mere mortals, tiny and seemingly insignificant and in so much awe.

Callum has also sent these photos from Greece, whilst there and the huge engineering achievement of the Corinth Canal is well and truly something to see. I was there looking down on it, when in my 20's and it is so impressive.

We have some other lovely photos of Callum in Greece and I will share those another Saturday. Thank you Jan.

To conclude today, do dip in and out if you wish, here is Gustav Holst's The Planets:
